Ohio State Representative (4th District), 2007 – 2014

  • Served two terms as a member of leadership, two years as the Speaker Pro Tempore

Lima City Council, 1992 – 2006

  • Served as Lima’s 4th Ward Representative to City Council from 1992 until April 1998
  • Appointed President of City Council April 1998 and elected to full term November 1999
  • Perfect attendance at Council meetings while President
  • Served as a member of several Council Committees including Finance, Utilities, Legislative Code & Judicial, Public Works, and Planning & Development
  • Revised City Council Rules and reformed committees as President
  • Worked for successful adoption of Ohio’s Open Meetings Law for the Lima City Charter in November 1998
  • Fought against tax increases for City and County residents by opposing an income tax increase in 2004
  • Supported economic development by creating residential and commercial tax abatements
  • Supported downtown development by advocating construction of the downtown parking garage, expansion of Lima Memorial Health System and St. Rita’s Medical Center, placing of the new Lima Senior High School at the stadium site and funding downtown development groups
  • Supported stricter code enforcement and opposed cuts to safety service positions
